Hey yall.. sorry I havent been on in a while Hope everyone enjoyed the Georgetown Red Poppy show. Heather and all the volunteers worked their asses off again this year.. especially the judges ;-) Anywho.. finally Heathers Trans Am is in progress. We got the interior just about finished.. pulled the motor last weekend and took it to Performance Machine in Hutto. Turned out the crank was s***, and several rods were toast. They will be installing a new crank, new rods, boring it .040, new cam, new intake, new "old style" higher compression pistons, decking the heads and block, valve job, and some mild grinding here and there.. should be faster than Jeffs Nova pretty soon ;D

8-)Nice Poncho. Is it a '78 model? I still have my 75 Trans Am bought new in 75 while a senior in high school. Looking forward to a complete resto.

Its a 77. We FINALLY got the engine back from ye ol Machine shop turned out to have 2 cracks in the block, water jackets on the inside between 6 and 8, and another between 3 and 5. I guess someone in the past either over tightened the head bolts, or perhaps they were a little too long. Turned out the crank was trash (it will now become the base for Heathers Fire Birdbath in the back yard) After finding a new block and brand new crank it was bored 30 over, and the crank was balanced. Then it got a REALLY nice valve job and some port work on the heads. Combustion chambers cleaned up REALLY nice! Nice new high lift cam and some higher compression "old style" pistons. we installed a nice polished high rise intake, some new Heddman headers, water pump, oil pump, fuel pump, alternator, all the standard s***.
