Hi all, I have been asked several times to post a little tutorial on how to use the site. I will try to cover some of the necessities.
-Once you log in, notice the shortcut headings at the top;
Home - New Topics - Help - Search - Members - Calendar, etc
It is easiest to click the New Topics one which will bring up a list of the most recent posts in chronological order. This includes new forum topics and the replies to them. Once you click on a topic in the list, scroll down for the recent posts on it.
-The Calendar has an actual calendar page showing the month and any activities known. You can click on the event on a specific day and it is a link that takes you to a brief description for that event.
-The Search button will take you to a page to type in a keyword to search for. You can also check or uncheck specific headers to search under.
-The Members button will show you a list of all members of the forum in username alphabetical order. Clicking on their name will show you the profile they are supposed to have filled in.
-Profile, on the above note, you can click on Profile and then Modify your profile info, including an avatar image (preferably of your ride)
---------------------------------------------------------------
-Replying to a forum post- sometimes it is hard to see. The Reply button is at the bottom right of the page at the last post. Click reply and you can then reply to an existing post.
---------------------------------------------------------------
-Posting in the forums-adding a link-
when making or adding to a post, aside from typing text, if you want to add a link to something, you first copy the URL from wherever it is, then come back here to your post, click on the little blue button with the sheet of paper next to it-
When you click it you will see: [ url ] [ /url ]
Click in the center of the text between the 2 parenthesis- [ url ] x [ /url ]
Then right click and paste your URL you copied in between the parenthesis, so that you have a {url} on either side of it. This will create the blue hyperlink for people to click once you post it.
---------------------------------------------------------------
-Adding a photo/image to a post.
This works the same way as above, except you click on the little scenery image button-
In the same manner, you will get this- [ img ] [ /img ] and you click in the center and then paste your URL of your image in the middle between the parenthesis. x [/img]
Your image must have a URL from another location, not from your computer.
---------------------------------------------------------------
-Youtube links, works the same way, except you click on the Youtube button-
and then paste your Youtube link that you copied from the SHARE button on Youtube. However, once you paste that link in, you want to go back and click between the / mark and the suffix code-
for example- [ youtube ] youtu.be/ x gZ_kez7WVUUyou would click where the x is between the slash / and the gz in this case. Then hit backspace and remove the youtu.be/ portion of the link, leaving only the ending code letters. This will make it a youtube box in the post, like so-
---------------------------------------------------------------
If you get it wrong it will just be a link that may or may not work.
I will add more to this as needed, but must bail for now. Post any questions you may have. You can always experiment and modify or delete if you mess up.
